Amritsari Fish Fry

These delicious crispy fried fish fillets will definitely make you crave for more.


  • 500 gms Fish Fillets (I used Basa fish fillets)
  • 1 tbs Lemon Juice
  • 1 tbs Red chilli powder
  • 3 tbs Ginger Garlic Paste
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1 cup Gram Flour
  • 3 tbs Malt Vinegar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbs Carom Seeds (Ajwain)
  • 3 tbs rice flour
  • 1/2 cup Yoghurt
  • Chaat Masala to sprinkle
  • Oil for frying


Cut the fish fillet into small pieces and take it in a bowl. Add the lemon juice, ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder and salt. Mix it well and keep it aside for 20 mins.

After 20 min, add the gram flour, malt vinegar, egg, yoghurt, rice flour and carom seeds in the bowl. Mix it well so that the fishes are nicely coated and leave it for another 15 mins before frying.

Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish pieces. Take out in a paper towel to get rid of the excess oil.

Sprinkle some chaat masala on top and your Amritsari Fish Fry is ready to be served.
